Applied Research and Innovation Services (ARIS)

Print Your Mind 3D hosted a 3D Hubs event at SAIT Polytechnic‘s Engineering Technology facilities. We had the chance to  visit the Applied Research and Innovation Services Lab (ARIS) at SAIT Polytechnic and meet Jim Nikkel and his team.

They had a presentation about how industry is applying commercial 3D printing to product development and then we took a look at three of their labs. The first lab was set for fabbrication and prototypes and it had high end 3d printers, cnc machines, a small injection molding machine and other tools. The second lab was for testing products before they go to market and in the third lab there was a wide variety of fiber glass and other textiles used to make prototypes of high performance product such as an olympic sled.
